Besides being a wonderful place to live, Culpeper has an interesting history.
The town was firsted established as the Town of Fairfax and the town was orginially surveyed by a young George Washington. In 1795, the town received a post office with the Culpeper Court House name, although it was still shown as Fairfax on many maps. The Virginia Assembly formally renamed the town Culpeper in 1869.
The Culpeper Minutemen were formed in Culpeper during the Revolutionary war. Culpeper was a crossroads for a number of armies marching through Virginia during the Revolutionary War. The childhood home of Conferate General A.P. Hill is located at the intersection of Main and Davis streets.
in the 1980s, Culpeper began to grow greatly, party because of a growing number of people living in Culpeper who work in Northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C. area.

To Buy or Not to BuyI would say as a realtor, the question I am asked
"Dana McGushin was my real estate agent when I purchased a house in Fall 2016 and she was absolutely awesome!!! She made the whole process go very smoothly. She tuned into the details I was looking for in a home and found the perfect houses to show me. She was quick to set up showing appointments and to write up a contract when I found my ideal home.
Dana's communication skills and professionalism in speaking with others involved in the purchasing process is highly commendable. She is quick to respond to questions and to help in gathering needed information for closing. Because of her caring nature and expertise, my experience with buying a new home was pleasant and stress free. I highly recommend using Dana as your real estate agent when selling or purchasing a home!"
